
With the recent changes in hiring new teachers due to the implementation of DepEd Order No. 7, s. 2023, the Schools Division of Calamba City conducted the Orientation of Teacher Applicants on the New Hiring Guidelines for SY 2023-2024 via Zoom on May 30, 2023.
More than 640 aspiring teachers attended the activity which aimed to provide the participants with adequate knowledge on the specific guidelines, procedures, and criteria related to recruitment, selection, and appointment of teacher applicants.
In her message, SDS Merthel M. Evardome, CESO V emphasized how important professional commitment is in the teaching profession and reminded them of the reasons why they want to become educators which requires personal commitments that “you must embrace if you are to succeed in the field since being part of DepEd is both challenging and rewarding.” She also encouraged them to increase their chances of being included in the registry of qualified applicants as they are guided by the new hiring guidelines.
OIC-ASDS Jaypee E. Lopo provided a clear picture of the DepEd Human Resource and Organizational Development Strategic Framework and informed them on Recruitment, Selection, and Placement Updates. He highlighted the Merit Selection Plan as the systematic method of selecting employees grounded in the principles of merit, competence, fitness, accountability, transparency, and equal opportunity as “we commit to hiring the right people for the right job at the right time.”
Meanwhile, HRMO Evelyn A. Calderon imparted knowledge on the Process Flow of Recruitment, Selection, and Appointment beginning with the call for application through the issuance of Division Memorandum, submission of application, conduct of classroom observation and demonstration teaching, and deployment to schools. Rules on appointment and timeline of activities were also discussed.
PSDS Marites M. Zoleta walked the participants through the criteria and point system and led the simulation of comparative assessment in giving corresponding points to relevant education, training, and experience qualifications for the selection and hiring of teacher applicants to Teacher I positions.
