
Calamba City Mayor Roseller ‘Ross’ H. Rizal demonstrated his strong support for research and innovation in the city through a partnership with the Schools Division Office of Calamba City during the fifth batch of Project RIZALiksik (Research and Innovation, Zeal for Academic Leadership) at Venus Parkview Hotel, Baguio City on August 23-25, 2024.
In his recent address, Mayor Rizal emphasized the crucial role of teachers in driving educational advancements and fostering a culture of innovation. His commitment underscores the city’s dedication to enhancing educational practices and supporting the professional development of its educators.
165 public elementary and secondary teachers from six schools participated in the research and innovation expo, where they showcased their projects. The participating schools included Bucal ES, Barandal ES, Bunggo NHS, Majada In ES, Majada In IS, and Hornalan ES.
In her message, SDS Merthel M. Evardome, CESO V, highlighted several research and innovation practices that teachers could adopt and draw inspiration from. She emphasized the importance of systems development within the Schools Division Office and the implementation of innovative strategies in teaching and learning.
SDS Evardome encouraged teachers to engage in collaborative efforts as “we need to align our efforts with others who can assist us in co-creating impactful research and innovations.”
Her remarks aimed to inspire educators to seek out partnerships and embrace new approaches to enhance educational outcomes.
Meanwhile, SEPS Dexter M. Palanas presented a comprehensive overview of the co-creation process for scaling up research and innovation. This process entails collaborative efforts among diverse stakeholders to develop and expand new ideas, solutions, and technologies.
PSDS Marites M. Zoleta elaborated on the significance of research and innovation for learners, teachers, and overall school operations, highlighting how these elements enhance educational outcomes and schools’ effectiveness.
Six research presenters showcased their completed school-based research and innovation projects. The presenters were Winny Jane L. Vivas and Erliza P. Tolentino from Bucal ES, Cristina F. Grumal from Majada In IS, Rochelle R. Resentes from Majada In ES, Donnalyn M. Miguel from Barandal ES, Abegail A. Panghulan from Bunggo NHS, and Kenneth M. Muya from Hornalan ES.
Their presentations highlighted innovative approaches and findings aimed at enhancing educational practices and outcomes within their respective schools.
