
The concluding day of the Training-Workshop on Utilizing Positive Heutagogy on Learners’ Discipline (UPHOLD) was marked with inspiration and gratitude, beginning with a heartfelt prayer led by Fr. Jayson B. David, SDB, Province Vocation Director of Don Bosco College Seminary in Canlubang, Calamba City.

Fr. Davidโs prayer encouraged participants to remain grateful despite lifeโs struggles, reminding them of the joy and strength that come from the Lord. โEven when life brings difficulties, the Lord is here to make us smile,โ he said, setting a reflective and hopeful tone for the day.

Organized by the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) and spearheaded by SDS Merthel M. Evardome, ASDS Nadine C. Celindro, and Dr. Mariliza T. Espada, the workshop aligns with DepEd Order No. 024, s. 2022, and supports the Basic Education Development Plan 2030. Its objectives include addressing learning loss, promoting resilience, and upholding childrenโs educational rights.

The training is accredited by the Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC) with Accreditation No: PTR-2024-621-6934 and awards participants 10 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units.

Adding to the dayโs significance, ASDS Nadine C. Celindro delivered a keynote message that resonated deeply with the educators. She emphasized, โYou cannot give what you do not have,โ highlighting the importance of self-care and self-fulfillment for teachers to effectively nurture their students.

ASDS Celindro praised the Values Education Department for spearheading the training workshop, describing it as an essential initiative to strengthen educatorsโ capacity for holistic teaching. She further expressed the Division Office’s commitment to supporting teachers, stating, โIn a world where the teaching profession is often filled with stress, we in the Division Office serve with heart for learners.โ

She acknowledged the vital role of the Local Government Unit in alleviating teachers’ burdens and stressed the importance of resilience and trust in the Lord. โWhatever problems we may face, whatever road we may take, we must not lose the smiles on our faces,โ she said, reminding teachers that they are role models and idols to their learners. โWe must remember that not all learners have happy families. It is our role as teachers to be there for them.โ
