SDO Calamba City fosters educational breakthroughs in research and innovation during the 9th Batch of Project RIZALiksik (Research and Innovation, Zeal for Academic Leadership) at The Plaza Garden Hotel and Residences, Baguio City, on September 27-29, 2024.

A total of 168 public elementary and secondary teachers from Jose Rizal Memorial School and Real Elementary School participated in the 9th Research and Innovation Expo, presenting their innovative projects and research initiatives.

SDS Merthel M. Evardome emphasized the importance of inclusive education in her address on Special Needs Education. She clarified that schools do not need to apply separately to offer SPED classes, reiterating that “we are for inclusive education, and no learner should be left behind.” Her statement underscores the commitment of the education sector to provide equal opportunities and access to quality education for all students, regardless of their learning needs.

SDS Evardome has directed that all research outputs and Continuous Improvement Projects presented during Project Rizaliksik be collected and consolidated for publication. These resources will be disseminated to all teachers during the Teachers’ General Assembly in December 2024. This initiative aims to provide a valuable reference for schools to replicate or adapt, promoting the use of evidence-based practices and innovative strategies across the division.

Meanwhile, SEPS Dexter M. Palanas provided valuable insights on the co-creation process, introducing a powerful formula for successful innovation: desirability, feasibility, and viability. He highlighted that while scaling up can help meet the organizationโ€™s objectives, it is crucial that innovations also address the needs of the end users. โ€œIf it doesnโ€™t meet the usersโ€™ needs, they simply wonโ€™t use it,โ€ he noted. His message underscores the importance of ensuring that innovations are not only aligned with organizational goals but are also responsive to the people they are intended to serve.

EPS in Mathematics, Rosemarie V. Magnaye, highlighted the pivotal role of research and innovation in enhancing educational experiences for learners, supporting teachers, and improving overall school operations. She emphasized that integrating these elements into the educational system not only leads to better academic outcomes but also strengthens the effectiveness and efficiency of schools in delivering quality education.

Six researchers presented their completed school-based research and innovation projects. Representing Jose Rizal Memorial School were Zairene V. Pineda, Sherylrose M. Martinez, Mary Ann D. Basas, and Vanessa A. Centeno, while Juvilla D. Doria and Abigail Marie L. Buhat represented Real Elementary School.
Their presentations showcased innovative approaches and strategies aimed at improving educational practices and outcomes within their respective schools.
