Recognizing and scaling up research-enabled best practices in schools, the first batch of 184 teachers from 12 public elementary and secondary schools geared up for Scaling Up Project RIZALiksik (Research and Innovation, Zeal for Academic Leadership) at the Hotel Veniz Session, Baguio City on May 3-5, 2024.

In her message, SDS Merthel M. Evardome, CESO V, underscored that teachersโ€™ personal and professional development is paramount as they are basic actors of the teaching-learning process. She shared that Mayor Roseller โ€˜Rossโ€™ H. Rizal came up with this research endeavor where โ€œall your research results, interventions, and recommendations in the formulation of sustainable solutions to address educational issues through innovation will be compiled for replication.โ€

โ€œAs teachers, we need to be innovative and creative. These characteristics are engraved in our hearts as we continuously improve ourselves for the benefit of our learners,โ€ she added.

SDS Evardome also stressed the role of educators in imparting crucial life skills to learners for them to survive and become resilient.

OIC-ASDS Nadine C. Celindro expressed appreciation for SDS Evardomeโ€™s tireless efforts in pushing for educational innovation made possible through the support of the Local Government Unit of Calamba led by Mayor Rizal in providing the best learning opportunities for Calambeรฑo learners.

SEPS of Research Dexter M. Palanas delivered the first plenary session focusing on scaling up completed educational research and innovation.

During the second session, PSDS of Cluster 7 Ligaya B. Fuego highlighted the importance of research and innovation to learners, teachers, and school operations.
Dr. Fuego shared the quotation from Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Z. Duterte, โ€œBy improving the quality of entry-level teachers and reskilling and upskilling our workforce, we develop our teachersโ€™ capacity to teach higher-order thinking.โ€

Meanwhile, seven presenters from six different schools showcased their school-based research and innovation in improving learnersโ€™ performance and schoolsโ€™ effectiveness.

Research presenters include Elmalyn P. Bernarte of Paciano ES, Ginalyn B. Laab of Palingon ES, Jane Amy Q. Caguicla of Mabato NHS, Rechelle R. Fernado of Maunong ES, Ma. De Belen T. Quilao and Charina C. Balba of Buntog ES, and Emmanuel C. Balute of La Mesa ES.
