The Schools Division Office of Calamba City, through the School Governance and Operations Division-School Health and Youth Formation Sections, in collaboration with the Calamba City Population Management Office and the City Health Office conducted the 2024 EmpowerTeens: Strengthening Adolescent Reproductive Health through Collaborative Efforts at Bulwagang Rizal, 4th floor of the DepEd main building on September 6, 2024.
The program is part of the ongoing commitment to DepEd Order No. 31, s. 2018, also known as the “Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of Comprehensive Sexuality Education.”
This initiative aims to equip student leaders with practical tools and knowledge to effectively educate their peers on sexuality, thereby playing a crucial role in reducing teenage pregnancy rates in schools and communities.
The event was attended by officers and teacher-advisers of the Supreme Secondary Learner Government from 21 public secondary schools across Calamba City.
Meanwhile, the participants engaged in discussions and activities designed to enhance their understanding of adolescent reproductive health and empower them to become advocates for responsible sexual behavior among their peers.
The collaborative effort among SDO Calamba City, CPMO, and CHO highlights the importance of multi-sectoral approaches in addressing pressing adolescent health issues.
By strengthening the capacity of young leaders, the program seeks to foster a more informed and proactive youth population, better equipped to tackle challenges related to sexual and reproductive health.
