In celebration of National Teachers Month and in support of the national advocacy for blood donation, the Schools Division Office of Calamba City, in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross Laguna Chapter, City of Calamba Branch, held the โProject Love for Life: Share a Bloodโ bloodletting activity on September 12, 2024, at the LLC Auditorium, Calamba Elementary School.
The activity, with the theme “Dugo Ko, Alay Ko para sa Calambeรฑo,” aimed to raise awareness and promote social responsibility among DepEd personnel in the city.
More than 70 generous blood donors participated in the event, with over 200 donors expected by the end of the activity. The Philippine Red Cross, represented by 12 volunteers together with the SDO medical staff, facilitated the blood donation process, ensuring the safety and well-being of all donors.
In addition to the blood donation, the event received strong community support. The Anghel ng Karunungan-Alagang Lazaro, an initiative led by Vice Mayor Atty. Angelito “Totie” S. Lazaro Jr., provided warm lugaw to all successful blood donors. Further contributions were made by Gardenia, which supplied bread to help replenish donors’ energy after their donations.
Through this meaningful event, SDO Calamba City continues to emphasize the importance of giving back to the community, especially through life-saving blood donations, as part of its ongoing commitment to social mobilization and networking initiatives.
For further information and future bloodletting opportunities, interested donors are encouraged to connect with the Social Mobilization and Networking Section of the Division or the Philippine Red Cross Laguna Chapter, City of Calamba Branch.
