In her address during the fourth day of the Master Teachers Professional Development Program 2.0, SDS Merthel M. Evardome, CESO V, called on master teachers of SDO Calamba City to reaffirm their commitment to nurturing literacy and learning among learners.
SDS Evardome emphasized the critical role of master teachers in addressing foundational gaps in literacy, particularly in reading and comprehension.
“Teach the learners effectively, especially those who struggle with reading and comprehension,” she urged, highlighting the transformative power of education in shaping learners’ future.
Recognizing the diverse needs of learners across schools, she encouraged master teachers to provide technical assistance to their colleagues in contextualizing, indigenizing, and localizing learning materials.
This, she noted, would ensure relevance and resonance in the learning process, especially in varied cultural and regional settings.
In her message, SDS Evardome posed a challenge to the master teachers: to reduce the number of non-readers and non-numerates within the division by focusing on tailored strategies that promote literacy and comprehension skills.
“As master teachers, you have the capacity to lead by example and inspire your peers to make an impact where it matters most,” she said.
The professional development program, attended by over 120 master teachers, serves as a platform for strengthening instructional leadership and fostering innovative teaching strategies.
