As DepEd relieves teachers of administrative tasks, SDS Merthel M. Evardome held a meeting with Administrative Officers II and Project Development Officers I at Bulwagang Rizal, 4th floor of the DepEd main building on February 13, 2024.
ย
The meeting focused on the DepEdโs plans for implementing DepEd Order No. 002, s. 2024 ordering the immediate removal of administrative tasks of public school teachers.
ย
In her message, SDS Merthel M. Evardome, CESO V, emphasized the DepEdโs commitment to supporting teachers to teach better and bring them back to the classrooms by removing administrative tasks from them as โwe maximize their time in classroom teaching.โ
ย
Citing reports and studies, SDS Evardome said that teachers are being assigned โadditional tasks that shift their focus from teaching.โ
ย
She stressed that the immediate reduction of ancillary tasks assigned to teachers is mandated to maximize their time in rendering actual classroom instruction and perform work incidental to their normal teaching duties.
ย
Included in the administrative tasks removed from teachers are personnel administration, property or physical facilities custodianship, general administrative support, financial management, records management, feeding, school disaster risk reduction and management, and other related programs.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the discussion on the clustering of deployed non-teaching personnel which aims to maximize existing administrative support personnel and help as many schools as possible.
ย
SDS Evardome explained that schools with not enough non-teaching personnel will be assigned AOs by clusters.
ย
The policy provides 60 days for Schools Division Offices to support clustering of schools, deployment of non-teaching personnel, and insurance of the immediate transfer and turnover of existing administrative tasks, and the hiring of administrative support personnel.
