Assistant Regional Director Loida N. Nidea, CESO V, and other regional office personnel discussed key points on ensuring quality education and services amid various challenges in the education sector during the DepEd Region IV-A CALABARZON Management Committee Meeting at Sol Y Viento Hotels and Resorts, Brgy. Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna, on September 25, 2024.
 
Topics included monitoring the implementation of blended learning during the suspension of face-to-face classes, where she urged school leaders to maintain the quality of education. She also addressed the Programme for International Student Assessment, highlighting learning sessions and familiarization activities related to OECD-PISA in Science, Mathematics, Reading, and Digital Learning.
 
Furthermore, ARD Nidea reminded schools to resolve complaints received by different SDOs through different platforms such as 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Hotline and DepEd Facebook pages to guarantee better services to clienteles and stakeholders.
 
Meanwhile, Regional Director Atty. Alberto T. Escobarte, CESO II, reminded attendees to veer away from partisan political activities, emphasizing that political neutrality must be maintained at all times. This aligns with various memoranda and orders on electioneering and political partisanship. Atty. Escobarte also addressed concerns regarding the no-collection policy, which has raised various issues among parents.
 
Since the Philippines ranked first in bullying according to PISA in 2018, Education Program Supervisor Michael Girard R. Alba, Chief of the Field and Technical Assistance Division, reminded SDO leaders to intensify the implementation of anti-bullying campaign activities in schools.
 
Other regional office personnel discussed key educational policies, programs, and initiatives aimed at improving education in the region, focusing on strategic planning, evaluating ongoing projects, and addressing emerging challenges in the education sector.
