“Mark every work with commitment and excellence”. These are the words of Dr. Eugenia R. Gorgon as she delivered her welcome message to 69 School Heads of Public Elementary and Secondary Schools, Education Program Supervisors, Unit Heads and other Division Personnel during the performance review held in White Rock Resort and Water Park, Subic, Zambales. Dr. Gorgon reiterated the need to reflect and contemplate on what went wrong and what went well.
The conference is focused on four-fold: assess 2015-2016 performances/accomplishments of schools and the schools division office in terms of achievement/attainment of the targets set based on action plans, SIP, AIP and APP; deliberate /articulate on targets and plans for SY 2016-2017; promote and strengthen teamwork among all schools and departments of the schools division office; and strengthen each member’s commitment to quality, and TEA service delivery.
Presentation of accomplishment per cluster was the done during the first day (May 27). Mr. Florentino Lara, SEPS- Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) facilitated the activity. He underscored the use of LogFrame (Logical Framework) which is an effective tool for monitoring the expected outputs. Simultaneously; Division Personnel had their small group session handled by Mr. Paul Casto, SEPS HRTD, Mrs. Evelyn Calderon, Administrative Officer IV and Mrs. Yolanda Chua, Administrative Officer V. To empower division personnel and to strengthen esprit de corps, topics discussed were on conflict management, overcoming one’s fears and personality development.
The second day revolves around Project Cycle Management in which School Heads produced their Gantt chart to carefully plan their actions as enshrined in schools’ SIP and AIP. Mr. Lara expounded as well the importance of Progress Monitoring Evaluation (PME). Along with this, monitoring tools were crafted to be used as basis to assess the status of programs and projects, a mechanism to ensure quality basic education services.
Another insightful discussion was facilitated by Dr. Heidi Lantacon, Education Program Specialist of M and E. She shared the processes involved in Outcomes-based education as one of the salient features to uphold 21st century education.
In the afternoon session, Dr. Randy D. Punzalan, SEPS – Planning and Research and Mrs. Ligaya Martir, Planning Officer III presented the Key Performance Indicators of the Division. The former, emphasized the formula which could be utilized by school heads to guarantee that their objectives are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound). A part of the initial result of Pareto analysis and segmentation on NAT Performance and Drop-outs was also disclosed to consider immediate course of actions.
One of the highlights of the 3-day performance review is the team building, an effort of the Division Office to instil the value of teamwork for the attainment of organizational goals and objectives. Indeed, DepEd Calamba City, through the leadership of Dr. Gorgon is highly prepared to ride the winds of change and to face the new school year with positive attitude and extraordinary commitment to attain excellence.
