Aiming to settle in a higher rank from 6th place overall in the 2023 Regional Schools Press Conference, the Schools Division of Calamba City has strategized its game plan through a rigid screening process of RSPC qualifiers aside from an early Division Schools Press Conference held on October 17-19 for the individual category at Jose Rizal Memorial School.

In her opening statement, Dr. Mariliza T. Espada highlighted key factors in winning the contest โ must be equipped with the right skills โ journalistic skills, and a positive attitude. She mentioned that winning should not only be the goal in every competition but more on the lesson and enjoyment that one will gain throughout the journey of the competition.

This year’s theme “Galing, Talino, at Husay ng mga Batang Makabansa sa Diwa ng Matatag na Adhika” (Excellence, Intelligence, and Skill of Patriotic Youth in the Spirit of Resilient Aspirations), underscores the importance of ethical reporting through diverse media channels for young aspiring journalists.

77 schools from public and private elementary and secondary vied in the individual contest composed of two rounds wherein the top 10 outputs shall be identified to compete in the next round. The top five winners will be recognized in all events per category and medium but only the top three winners will represent the Division in the RSPC to be held in February 2025 in Batangas Province.

Education Program Supervisors in-charge of campus journalism, Dr. Lino T. Sanchez and Dr. Andrea C. Senadoza are confident that this yearโs preparation will lead to a higher spot noting that Calamba City is the reigning champion in TV and Radio Broadcasting in the concluded National Schools Press Conference.

Meanwhile, the awarding ceremony for both individual and group contests is set on October 24 at JRMS. Qualifiers will participate in a series of training sessions over the coming months to prepare for the RSPC.
