National Internal Quality Auditor and Education Program Supervisor of DepEd Region IV-A CALABARZON, Andrea Mabel E. Abrencillo, led the discussion on managing internal quality audits during the third day of the Capability Building on Bridging Research and Internal Quality Audits for Improved Compliance and Innovation at Summit Ridge Tagaytay on February 26, 2025.
Abrencillo guided participants through the key aspects of internal quality audits, emphasizing the recommended ISO clauses that each office or process should prioritize. She advised against covering excessive clauses, addressing issues observed in the initial outputs of the previous day’s workshop.
During her discussion, she outlined the step-by-step IQA procedures, which include selecting and managing the IQA team, planning and conducting the audit, reporting results, evaluating auditors, and following up on actions taken. She also detailed the essential considerations in selecting the audit team, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
Meanwhile, one of the highlights of her presentation focused on the preparation of an audit program, which she defined as a structured arrangement of one or more audits scheduled for a specific timeframe and directed toward a particular objective.
She further elaborated on the audit plan, describing it as a detailed roadmap of activities and arrangements necessary for a successful audit.
According to Abrencillo, the audit itinerary must be prepared by the audit team leader, reviewed by the lead IQA, and approved by the Quality Management Representative.
To reinforce learning, she facilitated a hands-on workshop where participants developed a complete audit plan for the 2025 Internal Quality Audit, tailored to the specific processes assigned to each group.
This practical exercise enabled attendees to apply their knowledge in real-time, ensuring a more structured and effective approach to internal quality auditing.
The sessions will also cover audit report writing, auditor evaluation, and audit follow-up for the next two days.
